Julien Catalano

2024 Lifetime Achievement Award Winner:

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a sustained commitment and significant contributions to the LoRa Alliance over at least three years.

Kerlink’s Julien Catalano has earned this recognition based on his extensive work with the Technical Committee (TC) and the Firmware Update Over the Air (FUOTA) Working Group (WG). A core contributor to, and editor of, the LoRaWAN technical specifications, he currently serves as Vice Chair. Catalano has chaired the FUOTA WG since 2017 and is Kerlink’s alternate member of the Board of Directors. He actively promotes LoRaWAN in various standards bodies and the broader IoT ecosystem to drive awareness and adoption.

 

Member Bio:

Julien Catalano is deputy CTO at Kerlink, in charge of Technologies and Architectures. Julien also serves as LoRa Alliance Technical Committee Vice-Chair since 2025 and is chairing the Technical Committee FUOTA Working Group since 2017. He is a member of the LoRa Alliance Board of Directors, as Kerlink’s alternate representative.

 

Julien holds a master’s degree from the École Centrale de Marseille and started his career as a research engineer for Philips Research in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

 

Working for 20 years in the Internet of Things industry, he tackled embedded software development, system architecture and strategic partnership in research, industrial companies and start-ups. Julien is a strong believer in open standards, building them in several organizations. This sparked his recognition by the LoRa Alliance with the Working Group Leadership Award in 2019.
