Wael Guibene is a Sr. Partner Solutions Architect at AWS focusing on IoT & Hybrid Edge Services.
Prior to his position at AWS, Wael was Principal System Architect – IoT, Compute and Wireless Solutions at Infineon driving design wins for Matter-enabled 1st generation products. Prior to that, Wael was Lead IoT Standardization at Samsung Electronics America leading CSA’s Matter standardization efforts. Prior to joining SEA, Wael worked for Charter Communications where he was a Principal Engineer in charge of the standardization and PoCs for IoT (LoRaWAN and private-LTE/CBRS). While at Charter, Wael was serving as the Marketing Committee Chair at the LoRa Alliance as well as leading TFs and WGs for both Marketing and Technical committees. Wael was also the IoT Work Group co-Chair at the WBA. Prior to Charter, Wael worked for Amazon Lab126 where he was the Lead Wireless Architect for Amazon Echo 4 and Amazon Echo Show 10 – defining the full wireless subsystem as well as SideWalk integration into Echo products. Prior to that, Wael worked for Intel both in the US and Ireland where he helped define the E2E Intel IoT Platform and drive R&D engagements for smart cities and IIoT PoCs. Prior to that, Wael worked for the core LoRa/LoRaWAN R&D team at Semtech in France.
Wael received the 2020 LoRa Alliance Leadership Award, 2020 LoRa Alliance Corporate Award and the WBA 2021 Leadership Award.
Wael holds a PhD in Electronics and Communications from TELECOM ParisTech (France), MSc in EE from Univ. Paris Descartes (France) and MEng in Telecommunications from ENIT (Tunisia) and was elevated to Senior Member IEEE in 2020. Wael published 40+ IEEE/ACM conference and journal papers and filed 25+ patents on various wireless technologies and IoT applications.

Wael Guibene is a Director – Wireless R&D at Charter Communications leading the IoT standards and systems. Wael is serving as Chairman of Marketing Committee for the LoRa Alliance and as Co-Chairman of the IoT Work Group at the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) Prior to this role Wael was Wireless Systems Architect at Amazon Lab126 working on Echo devices architecture and lead architect of Amazon SideWalk.
Prior to that, Wael was a Sr. Systems Engineer at Intel working on novel RF/wireless architectures and IoT systems/protocols design. Prior to Intel, Wael was wireless protocol engineer on LoRa/LoRaWAN with Semtech. Prior to that, he worked at EURECOM on EU projects related to 4G/5G. Wael is holding an MEng and MSc in EE/Telecommunications and a PhD in Electronics and Communications.
