The Internet of Things will change lives, create new businesses & develop new opportunities. LoRaWAN™ is set to be a key standard. Get involved in the opportunity at HackIoT Reading UK.

It is clear that the Internet of Things presents great opportunities as well as technical and commercial challenges.  The Innovation Catalyst and its partners are running HackIoT to allow students, entrepreneurs, and professionals to:

-Understand the technology

-Work together to develop proof of concept products/solutions

-Explore and try to understand potential commercial models

LoRaWAN IoT technology with its IoT standard, low-cost implementation, rapid scalability and cost-effective operations will underpin many IoT developments.

We have assembled a team of industry experts to provide technical advice and training and will be providing the necessary hardware, developer kits, sensors and gateways to allow for meaningful product development experience to be gained during the HackIoT.

Reading Borough Council will shortly be rolling out an LPWAN to Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell and West Berkshire and allocating £1m of challenge funding to developers of IoT products and services.  HackIoT provides the perfect opportunity to start creating propositions that can apply for this cash.

The overall winner of HackIoT will have a place at the Innovation Catalyst on the 4 month Barclays Flight Smart City Accelerator programme.  Other HackIoT participants can apply for 1 of the 12 places on this programme to get the help they might need to develop their businesses further.
