Critical infrastructures are exposed to at least three major vulnerabilities: extreme climate events, natural aging in absence of proper maintenance, and human tampering. It is clear that extreme weather events have been occurring with an ever-increasing frequency, and this has been affecting the stability and safety of infrastructure as well as security for many communities.
The IVMS-SAT solution was designed for the monitoring of energy transportation and distribution infrastructures as well as bridges, road infrastructures, railway sites, and landslide phenomena, detecting vibration or inclination anomalies due to structural failure or sabotage.
It is a green device, completely waterproof, and can last for years on energy generated by the integrated photovoltaic panel with supercapacitors. An optional internal primary battery is also available if necessary. It uses a low-power inertial sensor and a high-accuracy inclinometer to measure static position in real time, detecting any changes in orientation, movement, or vibration. The sensor can be mounted on a pole or any structure. Its rugged design and construction makes it ideal for installation in harsh environments typically encountered in industrial applications.
