Sanford combats wastewater system issues with new technology
SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Sanford's going high-tech as it works to tackle issues with its wastewater system.
There's telemetry that lets city crews know where certain areas may be overwhelmed, especially when heavy rain can create infiltration issues.
Hurricane Ian magnified the existing frailties around Sanford's vacuum sewer pit system included.
"Flooding was pretty bad; it didn't get quite in my house over here, but it got real close," said resident Gil Nieves.
