Other highlights from the 2023 report:

• IEC and CEN standards validated LoRaWAN for smart metering, building on earlier OMS Group and DLMS-UA adoptions and further strengthening LoRaWAN’s ability to meet this market’s specialized requirements.
• Two Technical Recommendations were released improving and augmenting LoRaWAN functionality, including using Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA) to increase network capacity and Multicast D2D communication for direct over-the-air communication between devices.
• Several FAQ documents were issued to strengthen users’ understanding of recent enhancements to the LoRaWAN specification, including payload codec API, relay, IPv6 adaptation layer and security.
• Pre-testing of firmware updates over the air (FUOTA) and relay specifications using the LoRaWAN Certification Test Tool (LCTT) were enabled, along with new reporting features.
• The Interoperability Work Group developed tools and procedures to test and certify interoperability between LoRaWAN network elements and built an interoperability testbed architecture.
• Beecham Research conducted an extensive study focusing on networking technologies for smart cities, buildings and utilities, releasing two reports offering valuable insights into the evolving landscape of IoT in these markets:

La confiance envers le standard LoRaWAN a été renforcée par notre programme Accredited Professional, qui répond au souhait des utilisateurs finaux de disposer d’un outil permettant d’évaluer les connaissances des fournisseurs en matière de développement et de mise en œuvre de LoRaWAN. En tant que leader dans le domaine des déploiements LPWAN à l’échelle mondiale, nous prévoyons une année 2024 encore plus florissante. »

Autres points forts du rapport 2023 :

• Les normes IEC et CEN ont validé LoRaWAN pour les compteurs connectés, en s’appuyant sur les adoptions préalables de l’OMS Group et DLMS-UA et en renforçant encore la capacité de LoRaWAN à répondre aux exigences spécifiques de ce marché.
• Deux recommandations techniques ont été publiées afin d’améliorer et d’augmenter les fonctionnalités de LoRaWAN, notamment en utilisant l’accès multiple avec surveillance de porteuse (CSMA) pour augmenter la capacité du réseau et la communication Multicast ‘Device-2-Device’ pour la communication par la voie radio directe entre les appareils.
• Plusieurs documents de Questions/Réponses ont été publiés pour permettre aux utilisateurs de mieux comprendre les récentes améliorations apportées à la spécification LoRaWAN, notamment en ce qui concerne l’interface codec de charge utile, le relais, la couche adaptation IPv6 et la sécurité.
• Le prétest des mises à jour « firmware over the air » (FUOTA) et des spécifications de relais utilisant l’outil de test de certification LoRaWAN (LCTT) ont été activés, ainsi que de nouvelles fonctionnalités de création de rapports.
• Le groupe de travail sur l’interopérabilité a développé des outils et des procédures pour tester et certifier l’interopérabilité entre les éléments du réseau LoRaWAN et a construit une architecture de banc de test pour la réalisation de l’interopérabilité.
• Beecham Research a mené une étude approfondie sur les technologies de mise en réseau pour les villes, les bâtiments et les services publics intelligents, et a publié deux rapports offrant de précieuses informations sur l’évolution de l’IoT sur ces marchés :
  • Briefing pour les spécialistes des solutions IoT : utilisation de LoRaWAN dans les bâtiments, villes et services publics intelligents en vue de former les intégrateurs de systèmes et les fournisseurs de solutions, disponible exclusivement pour les membres de LoRa Alliance ; et,
  • Mode d’emploi pour la recherche sur les secteurs clés de l’IoT : bâtiments, villes et services publics intelligents, mentionnant le leadership mondial de LoRaWAN en matière de réseaux LPWAN, diffusé auprès du grand public
