Jorge Varona

Speaker Bio

Jorge Varona is Vice President of Engineering at Semtech Corporation and responsible for LoRa business development in Latin America. Jorge has a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, has authored/co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed technical papers, and holds 3 patents, he is also Vicepresident of the Mexican Microsystems Consortium (CMM), an adjunct professor at Universidad Panamericana, and a Senior Member of the IEEE.

During his career, Jorge has been a co-founder of two technology companies and is now involved with helping to develop the LoRaWAN ecosystem in Latin America enabling smart IoT applications that solve challenges in energy management, infrastructure efficiency, precision agriculture, asset tracking, pollution control, disaster prevention, and more.
