In traditional grid configurations, when a short-circuit occurs—like when a digger damages an underground 16kV cable—the protection relay (IED) cuts off the entire line within milliseconds. But finding the exact location of the fault becomes a time-consuming manual process, often requiring visits to each street cabinet.
With Spotys, Utilities can eliminate guesswork. Each sensor monitors real-time current peaks. When a fault happens, only the sensors before and after the incident detect symptomatic current peaks and instantly report via LoRaWAN.
