Wavecom IoT Gateway is an Internet of Things network access solution, designed by Wavecom Technologies and for a wide range of applications, allowing different types of devices from different technologies, to communicate with applications with very high efficiency and scalability.It is modular allowing multiple wireless interfaces such as LoRaWAN®, Wi-Fi and 3G/4G/5G and provides an over-the-top WAN backbone.

On the other hand, the enclosure of the Wavecom IoT Gateway is built in aluminum providing an electromagnetic isolation between the internal radio modules and temperature’s dissipation, which allows its use in various indoor/outdoor application scenarios.
It is always connected to a cloud managed platform (i.e. Wavecom IoT Manager/Multi-Tenant system) responsible for the integrated management of the gateways, providing reports and visualization of the data read from LoRaWAN assets. This platform allows connection with third parties via API.
Being modular it enables the combination of several types of network technologies – Wireless (LoRaWAN and Wi-Fi), Cellular (3G/4G/5G) and Wired (Ethernet) in a single equipment.
Supports an Intelligent algorithm for load-balancing of multiple Cellular WANs.
Provides a dual USB 3.0 Host interface, up to 3 10/100/1000 Base -T interfaces, 1 DB9 for RS-232 management interface and a 12-pin connector for 1 RS-232/RS-485 interface and 2 Analog/4 Digital IOs.
Monitors temperature, CPU usage, available RAM and statistics of network interfaces (eg LoRaWAN). In addition, it allows us to obtain its geolocation and operational status.
Provides built-in short circuit protection and built-in RF filtering capability, for:
Serial interfaces (e.g., GPS and external actuators/sensors)
Embedded 3G/4G/5G modems or via USB interface
Allows for different network technologies – Wireless (LoRaWAN and Wi-Fi), Cellular (3G/4G/5G) and Wired (Ethernet).
Supports Layer 3 routing protocols and packet forwarding (Static and Dynamic – BGP, OSPF v2, RIP v1/v2) and Layer 2 connection and connectivity. The wired and wireless interfaces (5.6 GHz and 2.4 GHz) support the routing of frames between them, providing completely transparent connections (STP).
Allows the definition of security policies and the separation between internal and external networks (NAT, Port Forwarding, Traffic Rules and MAC filtering).
VPN configuration (GRE, IPSec, OpenVPN, PPTP/L2TP) is available.
Supports the implementation and management of virtual networks – forwarding capacity to and from VLAN traffic (access and Trunk Modes, including support on radio interfaces in any operation mode).
Offers Routing and Bridging (Point-to-Point, Point-to-Multipoint, Mesh, Wireless Repeater) Wireless Modes in frequency range of 5.6 GHz (IEEE802.11a/n) and 2.4 GHz (IEEE802.11b/g/n/ac). It also allows the retransmission between points at the frequency range of 5.6 GHz (repeater function point).
For security purposes, it uses 64-bit and 128-bit WEP encryption, WPA/WPA2 Personal and Enterprise (TKIP, AES and IEEE 802.1x/RADIUS based authentication).
Supports IPv4/IPv6, TCP/UDP, ARP, ICMP, DDNS, DHCP Server/Client/Relay, DNS Server/Client/Relay, NTP and MQTT.
SNMP is preferred to ensure compatibility with existing implementations for equipment configuration and operation. Local and remote configuration and operation functions are available.
Allows remote firmware upgrade and rollback (level 2), without loss of existing settings. FUOTA is used, allowing to update multiple gateways at once with Backup/Restore.
Provides functions such as “Reboot”, “Reset to defaults” (maintaining the previously defined IPs and Static Routing), and “Reset to factory defaults” (erases all configurations).
