Job Title: Contractor – Technical Specification Developer (LoRa Alliance)
Location: Remote (with occasional travel, if required)
Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract (6-12 months, with potential extension; part or full-time)
About the Role:
The LoRa Alliance is seeking a highly skilled contractor to support the development and enhancement of technical interop specifications related to LoRaWAN standards. This role involves close collaboration with technical working groups, alliance members, and cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy, clarity, and robustness of LoRa Alliance technical documents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, draft, and refine technical specifications and related documentation for LoRaWAN technologies. Work involves chairing meetings and working groups, driving technical discussions, being editor of documents, developing change requests (updates) on existing documents, reviewing work done by others.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), technical working groups to gather requirements and validate technical content.
- Ensure that technical documents meet quality standards, are easy to understand, focused on the agreed upon problem, and align with the LoRa Alliance’s guidelines.
- Participate in technical discussions, workshops, and review sessions to capture updates and integrate them into specifications.
- Manage documentation lifecycle processes. Provide technical editing and proofreading support to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Proven experience in developing technical specifications, standards, or protocols within IoT, telecommunications, or wireless technologies, driving discussions and consensus process.
- Strong understanding of LoRaWAN architecture, protocols, and related technologies. Prior experience with LoRa Alliance Technical Committee is highly preferred.
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret and translate complex technical concepts into clear, structured documents.
- Proficiency with documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Strong organizational and project management skills within a large collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with standardization bodies, technical alliances, or consortia.
- Familiarity with wireless communication protocols (e.g., Bluetooth, Zigbee, LTE-M, etc.).
- Experience with implementing and/or deploying LoRaWAN.
