Head of Innovation and Standards
Ahmed KASTTET is currently the Head of Innovation and Standards at Birdz SAS, the IoT subsidiary of the global utility leader Veolia. With over a decade of experience in wireless systems engineering, Ahmed has been instrumental in the development of radio protocols and products since 2009. His expertise was further highlighted by his pivotal role in integrating LoRa technology into Veolia’s RF networks in 2012, followed by the development of a new generation of products based on the LoRaWAN protocol.
Academically, Ahmed holds a Master of Engineering in Wireless Communication Systems (2009) and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Corporate Finance (2015), providing him with a unique blend of technical and business expertise.
In addition to his responsibilities at Birdz, Ahmed is actively involved in several key standardization bodies. He has been a member of the LoRa Alliance’s Technical Committee (TC) and Certification Committee (CC) since their inception. He also serves as the Chairman of AFNOR E17Z, the French National Commission for Smart Metering and Remote Reading, and is the Convenor of CEN TC294/WG7, where he leads the development of the “M-Bus over LPWAN” adaptation layer. Further cementing his leadership in the smart metering ecosystem, Ahmed is the Convenor of the OMS Group and LoRa Alliance Joint Task Force “OMS over LoRaWAN.”
