The LG5120 is built for smart building and facility projects where LoRaWAN is only one part of a wider building automation environment. In many commercial buildings, campuses, hospitals, data centres and multi-tenant facilities, wireless sensors must work alongside existing KNX, BACnet, Modbus, M-Bus, P1/DSMR, metering, HVAC, lighting, room control and BMS infrastructure. The LG5120 brings these systems together at the edge, helping facilities teams and system integrators turn fragmented building data into usable operational workflows.

Where simple gateways focus on moving sensor packets upstream, the LG5120 is designed to collect, normalise, visualise, automate and forward building-side data from multiple sources. LoRaWAN sensors can be used for air quality, occupancy, temperature, humidity, leak detection, energy monitoring and retrofit sensing, while wired building systems can be connected through KNX TP, KNXnet/IP, BACnet, Modbus, M-Bus, P1/DSMR, RS-485, RS-232, analog inputs and digital I/O. This makes the LG5120 suitable for projects where wireless sensing needs to fit into the operational reality of an existing facility, rather than sit in a separate data silo.

The LG5120 supports flexible LoRaWAN architectures. It can forward sensor traffic to an external LoRaWAN Network Server using LoRa Basics™ Station or UDP packet forwarding, or support more self-contained deployments using an embedded ChirpStack-based LNS on the gateway. This gives partners and customers the freedom to use an external LNS where the wider ecosystem is already defined, or a local LNS where site-level control, reduced dependency, faster commissioning or private network operation are more important.

E2C Trinity Facility gives the LG5120 its building-focused edge integration layer. It is designed to help collect data from LoRaWAN sensors, KNX devices, M-Bus meters, Modbus equipment, BACnet systems, P1/DSMR smart meters and local I/O, then transform that data into practical workflows for dashboards, alarms, automation rules, Node-RED orchestration, MQTT, BACnet/IP, OPC UA, BMS, SCADA and cloud platforms. Supported LoRaWAN devices can be onboarded through codec-based workflows, reducing the manual payload decoding and mapping effort often required in wireless sensor projects.

For building automation projects, the LG5120 helps bridge the gap between wireless sensing and established facilities infrastructure. KNX integration supports lighting, HVAC, room control and building-side device networks. M-Bus and P1/DSMR support metering and energy data acquisition. BACnet and Modbus support integration with plant equipment, controllers and supervisory systems. This enables LoRaWAN data to become part of the wider facility control and reporting environment, rather than remaining isolated in a standalone IoT application.

The LG5120 is powered by a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor, 8 GB RAM, 64 GB eMMC storage and RobustOS Pro based on Debian Linux. This gives the gateway the compute and software foundation for local processing, automation, visualisation, data handling and application hosting. An integrated NPU provides additional headroom for AI-assisted edge workloads where project requirements justify more advanced processing at the facility edge.

Backhaul and deployment flexibility are built in. 4G/LTE cellular, dual SIM support, Wi-Fi 6 and dual Gigabit Ethernet give installers multiple ways to connect sites without relying on a single network path. Smart Roaming can help cellular deployments select the best available network when compatible roaming SIMs are used, improving resilience in locations where carrier performance varies. DIN rail, wall and desktop mounting options make the LG5120 suitable for plant rooms, control panels, risers, communications rooms and facility equipment areas.

Remote management through RCMS helps teams deploy, monitor and maintain LG5120 gateway fleets without routine site visits. Operations teams can review device status, manage configuration, perform firmware updates, troubleshoot remotely and use secure access tools to support distributed facilities. For partners managing building portfolios or multi-site estates, this helps reduce support friction and makes ongoing lifecycle management more scalable.
