The LoRa Alliance, the group that supports the technology recently announced a new rollout, which was the first topic I broached in this week’s Five Minutes with…discussion with Donna Moore, the CEO and Chairperson of the LoRa Alliance.
Test programs aim to enhance ease of deployments.
Claiming that the internet of things (IoT) is reaching a tipping point, the LoRa Alliance announced that it has more than 100 networks operating around the world. It plans to expand certification and testing programs this year to ease deployments, which it claims already cover millions of end nodes.
For anyone who gets their hands dirty with low-power, wide-area networks (LPWANs), one of the big questions of the moment is whether the cellular industry’s stampede into this market — with the development and launch of the NB-IoT and LTE-M standards — will flatten the non-cellular technologies that preceded them.
