Council receive £60,000 in funding to grow wireless infrastructure

CONWY County Borough Council has been awarded £60,000 to grow and enhance the area’s community digital wireless infrastructure.

The funding from Welsh Government will be used to extend the LoRaWAN network that the Council has been creating across the county and will also provide free Wi-Fi in Llandudno town centre.

Using various funding opportunities over recent years, the Council has established a digital and communications wireless infrastructure, which is free to use for schools, business, the public sector and the public.

Coyote Secure combines LoRa and Sigfox to find stolen vehicles

By partnering with Orange Business Services to add the LoRaWAN network to the Coyote Secure service, initially with the Sigfox network, Coyote is engaged in large-scale technology convergence.

With Coyote Secure, its tracer can find 91% of its customers’ stolen vehicles in less than 48 hours. In order to further improve the performance of its offer and reach almost 100%, the French company, known for its driver assistance service, has chosen to integrate the LoRaWAN network of the operator Orange into Coyote Secure, which has been in use since 2018 with the Sigfox network. “We are technology agnostic, our goal is to offer our customers the best and for this we chose the convergence of connectivity,” confirms Jérôme Arnac, Marketing Director at Coyote.

Senet Announces Network-Based Location Estimator

Senet’s Location Estimator uses the company’s public carrier-grade LoRaWAN® network and networks deployed by the company’s Extended Coverage partners to provide customers with location logic for asset tracking, location-enabled mapping, and any application that can benefit from estimated presence and proximity detection. Unique to Senet’s Location Estimator is that the end device connecting to the network does not need to be designed with specific geolocation technology, making any LoRaWAN device, regardless of its original intended purpose, location aware. Location Estimator is available immediately as an add-on to a Senet connectivity plan.

While many location services require dedicated device hardware and frequent communication with the network which can increase costs and drain batteries quickly, Senet’s Location Estimator leverages the company’s existing and rapidly expanding public LoRaWAN network, including integration with over 870,000 Helium Network LoRaWAN hotspots, to deliver location information. Senet’s Location Estimator derives the location of any LoRaWAN device from the location of the gateway or gateways that relay any uplink message. Driven by LoRa Alliance members and the global LoRaWAN ecosystem, LoRaWAN is scaling massively around the world, collecting more data from more devices, serving more needs, with the most networks around the world, including historically underserved areas.

(NNNCo) has signed a contract with technology provider Wellness TechGroup to deploy a citywide LoRaWAN network in Montevideo, Uruguay to support 1.3 million people with 70,000 smart streetlights and create an infrastructure-based network for other smart city initiatives (to add endless use cases to the network), while reducing carbon emissions by up to 80%.

The companies have deployed 1,000 LoRaWAN gateways that transmit 960,000 messages per day, providing readings for temperature and humidity, water leakage and smart floor drains. Providing that data enables new revenue streams and improved customer service.

Fremont, Californie – 21 juin 2022 – Dans le prolongement de la récente annonce d’une importante expansion des réseaux, LoRa Alliance^®, l’association mondiale des entreprises qui soutiennent le standard ouvert LoRaWAN^® pour les réseaux étendus à basse consommation (LPWAN) de l’Internet des objets (IoT), a annoncé aujourd’hui une forte croissance pour LoRaWAN sur plusieurs indicateurs clés du marché. Porté par les membres de LoRa Alliance et son écosystème mondial, LoRaWAN s’étend massivement à travers le monde, répondant à davantage de besoins, collectant davantage de données d’un nombre croissant de dispositifs, avec le plus grand nombre de réseaux mondiaux, y compris de zones historiquement mal desservies.

National Narrowband Network Co. Fremont, California – 21 giugno 2022. A seguito del recente annuncio relativo alla notevole espansione della rete, la LoRa Alliance^®, associazione globale di aziende che sostiene lo standard aperto LoRaWAN^® per le tecnologie di rete a bassa potenza e ampio raggio (LPWAN) per l’Internet delle cose (IoT), ha annunciato oggi la forte crescita di LoRaWAN in numerosi indicatori chiave del mercato. La rete LoRaWAN, guidata dai membri della LoRa Alliance e dall’ecosistema globale LoRaWAN, sta registrando una crescita considerevole a livello mondiale, riuscendo a soddisfare più esigenze e raccogliere una maggiore quantità di dati da più dispositivi, con il maggior numero di reti in tutto il mondo, anche nelle zone storicamente meno servite.

La posizione dominante di LoRaWAN sul mercato è illustrata al meglio dalle soluzioni offerte dai membri di LoRa Alliance, che si stanno espandendo in un’ampia gamma di mercati verticali, casi di uso, ma anche nell’estensione e nella disponibilità di LoRaWAN. Di seguito riportiamo alcuni esempi selezionati tra le migliaia di soluzioni LoRaWAN implementate in tutto il mondo:

Helium e Senet hanno ultimato un’integrazione delle loro reti, mettendo a disposizione dei clienti Senet 850.000 hotspot compatibili con Helium in 170 Paesi e creando la più grande rete LoRaWAN gestita a livello globale.
National Narrowband Network Co. (NNNCo) ha sottoscritto un contratto con il fornitore di tecnologia Wellness TechGroup per implementare una rete LoRaWAN in tutta la città di Montevideo (Uruguay) con 70.000 lampioni smart che contribuiscono a supportare 1,3 milioni di persone e creano una rete basata su infrastruttura per altre soluzioni smart city (per aggiungere un’infinità di casi di uso alla rete), riducendo al tempo stesso le emissioni di carbonio fino all’80%.
The Things Industries (TTI) e Connexin stanno implementando 150.000 contatori smart tra Coventry e la contea del Warwickshire, nel Regno Unito. Questo progetto mira a fornire dati precisi in tempo reale relativi al consumo d’acqua per garantire una fatturazione più precisa e ridurre i rischi di perdite d’acqua in loco.
I sensori Talkpool sfruttano la connettività LoRaWAN offerta da Netmore per fornire soluzioni di prevenzione dei danni agli edifici utilizzando dispositivi di sensori LoRaWAN wireless facili da installare e rapidamente scalabili grazie alla copertura di rete LoRaWAN a livello nazionale. Le società hanno implementato 1.000 gateway LoRaWAN che trasmettono 960.000 messaggi al giorno, fornendo valori relativi a temperatura e umidità, perdite d’acqua e scarichi a pavimento smart. L’acquisizione di questi dati consente di ottenere nuove linee di ricavi e di migliorare il servizio clienti.

A questi esempi si possono aggiungere quelli evidenziati di seguito:

Birdz e Actility stanno lavorando insieme all’implementazione di un contatore d’acqua LoRaWAN 3M tramite le loro connessioni OBS, che si avvalgono di Actility per gestire la propria rete LoRaWAN in tutta la Francia, e hanno concordato insieme a Birdz-Veolia di utilizzare tale rete per questo progetto.
Il Progetto Red Sea Giga connette una forza lavoro composta da 36.000 operai edili e 3.000 veicoli in tempo reale con Actility e Abeeway.
Le reti LoRaWAN Cellnex implementate con Global Omnium per la gestione dell’acqua in Spagna connetteranno >300.000 sensori.
La soluzione LoRaWAN GreenField Direct per la protezione contro perdite d’acqua trasmette 125.000 messaggi al giorno servendosi di 16.000 dispositivi su 300 gateway per limitare al minimo i danni e ridurre i premi assicurativi.
L’implementazione di 9.000 dispositivi della soluzione EverSmart Clean di Microshare ha trasmesso più di 10 milioni di messaggi relativi alla presenza negli edifici, ai movimenti e ai feedback dei clienti.
Milesight sta fornendo alle scuole del Québec un sistema di monitoraggio della qualità dell’aria, dotato di circa 50.000 sensori che trasmettono a 2.600 gateway e che, fino a oggi, hanno inviato oltre 7 milioni di messaggi tramite LoRaWAN.
Renesas ha implementato una soluzione LoRaWAN per edifici smart con 10.000+ sensori e 90 gateway che monitorano le condizioni, la presenza, i contatori e il controllo del carico, la manutenzione degli scambiatori di calore e molti altri aspetti, facendo risparmiare il 30% sui costi energetici a un importante rivenditore di mobili.
Senet sta liberando il potenziale dell’innovazione a Tampa (Florida), con una rete pubblica espansiva LoRaWAN che copre oltre 2.575 km², con più di 50 torri.
Talkpool sta utilizzando la connettività LoRaWAN tramite TEKTELIC per fornire un monitoraggio superiore della qualità dell’aria e un’ottimizzazione dei sistemi HVAC (riscaldamento, ventilazione e condizionamento dell’aria) con l’impiego di 10.000 dispositivi e 100 gateway che hanno gestito quasi 1 milione di messaggi.
CRA e TEKTELIC hanno costruito una rete LoRaWAN in grado di fornire una copertura nella Repubblica Ceca, usando più di 500 gateway per ottenere oltre l’80% di copertura nel Paese.
La piattaforma IoT Urbana Smart Solutions gestisce i sistemi di illuminazione pubblica per alcuni comuni della Sicilia tramite una rete LoRaWAN che si avvale di 20 gateway e trasporta quasi mezzo milione di messaggi al giorno.
Il programma IoT LoRaWAN di EchoStar include già più di 10.000 dispositivi, e si prevede che il servizio possa espandersi fino a raggiungere milioni di dispositivi solo in Europa.
Actility implementa un sistema smart per i contatori del gas nella Zona Industriale Organizzata Eskisehir, il secondo cluster industriale più grande della Turchia, con una rete LoRaWAN che copre un’area di 32 km².
NNNCo ha installato una rete LoRaWAN nello stato della Tasmania che sarà in grado di fornire dati alla joint venture Virtual TAS, il primo progetto Digital Twin in 4D dell’Australia nato dalla collaborazione tra le aziende Enzen e 42-24.
Kerlink e VIoT implementano la prima rete nazionale LoRaWAN del Vietnam, installando circa 1.750 gateway Kerlink nell’arco di 3 anni per ottenere una copertura nazionale.

During the event, an Actility ThingPark Enterprise LoRaWAN private network will report live temperature, humidity, light, carbon dioxide and occupancy statuses using data from Elsys, Parametric and Sensative sensors installed around the facility. The sensor values will be transmitted using a Motorola Solutions LoRaWAN gateway and visualized using IoThink’s KHEIRON Studio. Fifty attendees will be equipped with Abeeway smart badges whose locations will be updated on the event floor plan in real time.
