The enterprise-grade MQflex will be featured, among other LoRaWAN-certified devices, at the LoRaWAN® World Expo, hosted by the LoRa Alliance® in Paris, France, from July 6-7. According to the LoRa Alliance, LoRaWAN has the greatest number of certified LPWAN (low-power wide-area network) sensors on the market—with a 34% increase in 2021—and several of these devices will be showcased at the expo to celebrate the achievement.

Driven by LoRa Alliance members and the global LoRaWAN ecosystem, LoRaWAN is scaling massively around the world, collecting more data from more devices, serving more needs, with the most networks around the world, including historically underserved areas.

Fremont, Californie – 21 juin 2022 – Dans le prolongement de la récente annonce d’une importante expansion des réseaux, LoRa Alliance^®, l’association mondiale des entreprises qui soutiennent le standard ouvert LoRaWAN^® pour les réseaux étendus à basse consommation (LPWAN) de l’Internet des objets (IoT), a annoncé aujourd’hui une forte croissance pour LoRaWAN sur plusieurs indicateurs clés du marché. Porté par les membres de LoRa Alliance et son écosystème mondial, LoRaWAN s’étend massivement à travers le monde, répondant à davantage de besoins, collectant davantage de données d’un nombre croissant de dispositifs, avec le plus grand nombre de réseaux mondiaux, y compris de zones historiquement mal desservies.

Son réseau robuste offre une couverture dense dans les zones urbaines, tandis que la connectivité à longue portée offre une couverture pour les points logistiques clés.
Le réseau Helium et Senet ont achevé l’intégration de leurs réseaux, mettant à la disposition des clients de Senet 850 000 points d’accès compatibles avec Helium dans 170 pays et créant ainsi le plus grand réseau LoRaWAN géré au niveau mondial.
National Narrowband Network Co. (NNNCo) a signé un contrat avec le fournisseur de technologie Wellness TechGroup pour déployer un réseau urbain LoRaWAN à Montevideo, en Uruguay, afin de soutenir 1,3 million de personnes avec 70 000 lampadaires intelligents et créer un réseau basé sur l’infrastructure pour d’autres initiatives de villes intelligentes (pour ajouter des cas d’utilisation infinis au réseau), tout en réduisant les émissions de carbone jusqu’à 80 %.

Les entreprises ont déployé 1 000 passerelles LoRaWAN qui transmettent 960 000 messages par jour, fournissant des relevés de la température, de l’humidité, des fuites d’eau et des drains de sol intelligents. Fournir ces données permet de créer de nouvelles sources de revenus et d’améliorer le service client.

A seguito del recente annuncio relativo alla notevole espansione della rete, la LoRa Alliance^®, associazione globale di aziende che sostiene lo standard aperto LoRaWAN^® per le tecnologie di rete a bassa potenza e ampio raggio (LPWAN) per l’Internet delle cose (IoT), ha annunciato oggi la forte crescita di LoRaWAN in numerosi indicatori chiave del mercato. La rete LoRaWAN, guidata dai membri della LoRa Alliance e dall’ecosistema globale LoRaWAN, sta registrando una crescita considerevole a livello mondiale, riuscendo a soddisfare più esigenze e raccogliere una maggiore quantità di dati da più dispositivi, con il maggior numero di reti in tutto il mondo, anche nelle zone storicamente meno servite.

Renesas ha implementato una soluzione LoRaWAN per edifici smart con 10.000+ sensori e 90 gateway che monitorano le condizioni, la presenza, i contatori e il controllo del carico, la manutenzione degli scambiatori di calore e molti altri aspetti, facendo risparmiare il 30% sui costi energetici a un importante rivenditore di mobili.
Senet sta liberando il potenziale dell’innovazione a Tampa (Florida), con una rete pubblica espansiva LoRaWAN che copre oltre 2.575 km², con più di 50 torri.

During the event, an Actility ThingPark Enterprise LoRaWAN private network will report live temperature, humidity, light, carbon dioxide and occupancy statuses using data from Elsys, Parametric and Sensative sensors installed around the facility. The sensor values will be transmitted using a Motorola Solutions LoRaWAN gateway and visualized using IoThink’s KHEIRON Studio. Fifty attendees will be equipped with Abeeway smart badges whose locations will be updated on the event floor plan in real time.

Comcast’s MachineQ Unveils Real-Time Location Tracking System (RTLS) Solution

PHILADELPHIA — May 18, 2022—MachineQ, a Comcast Company, today announced MachineQ for Asset Management, an end-to-end IoT solution that provides enterprises with a comprehensive, real-time view into the location of indoor inventory, equipment, and moveable assets. Using LoRaWAN® and BLE wireless technologies, the solution is disrupting the real-time location system (RTLS) landscape. Acklio opens a free developer program to test, prototype and showcase efficient IP-based LoRaWAN® solutions

The LoRa Alliance® has announced a specification update that officially adopts the support of the Internet protocols (IPv6) over LoRaWAN®. This new feature allows LoRaWAN to meet the demand for additional use cases in smart metering, industry 4.0, smart building and smart home among others. This milestone is made possible by the innovation and significant contributions of Acklio, pioneer of SCHC compression and fragmentation. Acklio marks the event by opening its developer program, offering all necessary resources for testing, prototyping and showcasing IP-based solutions over LoRaWAN.

The availability of the IPv6 Internet stack allows the rapid development of interoperable and secure services. A developer can now use any of the myriad existing IP/UDP-based services to deploy interoperable and end-to-end secure solutions over LoRaWAN with virtually no modification. Most of the services running the backbone of industry and enterprise solutions today include such IP/UDP versions and therefore become available “off the shelf”. For example, message queues with MQTTSN, SCADA systems based on Modbus and DNP3, device management with LwM2M or CORECONF, building asset management with BACnet or KNX, or telemetry and secure smart meter management with DLMS. Such IP-based LoRaWAN solutions now integrate seamlessly with standard enterprise, industrial and cloud infrastructures. It brings significant benefits in reducing time-to-market and total cost of ownership, simply by leveraging the existing engineering skills, software components, servers and infrastructure.

LoRa Alliance® Launches IPv6 Over LoRaWAN®; Opens Wide Range of New Markets for LoRaWAN

Fremont, Calif. – May 17, 2022 – The LoRa Alliance®, the global association of companies backing the open LoRaWAN® standard for the internet of things (IoT) low-power wide-area networks (LPWANs), today announced that LoRaWAN now seamlessly supports Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) from end-to-end. By expanding the breadth of device-to-application solutions with IPv6, LoRaWAN’s addressable IoT market is also broadened to include internet based standards required in smart electricity metering and new applications in smart buildings, industries, logistics, and homes.

The new IPv6 adaptation layer facilitates and accelerates development of secure and interoperable applications over LoRaWAN and builds on the alliance’s commitment to ease of use. IP-based solutions, commonly found in enterprise and industrial solutions, among many others, can now be transmitted over LoRaWAN, and easily integrated with cloud infrastructures. This allows developers to quickly enable internet-based applications, while significantly reducing time-to-market and total cost of ownership.

The successful development of IPv6 Over LoRaWAN is credited to the active collaboration of LoRa Alliance members in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to specify the Static Context Header Compression (SCHC) and fragmentation techniques, which makes transport of the IP packets over LoRaWAN very efficient. The LoRa Alliance IPv6 over LoRaWAN Task Force then took the SCHC specification (RFC 90111) and integrated it into the body of the LoRaWAN standard. LoRa Alliance member company, Acklio, made significant contributions to enable IPv6 over LoRaWAN and was integral to the development of the SCHC technology for LoRaWAN.

The first application to leverage SCHC for IPv6 over LoRaWAN is DLMS/COSEM for smart metering. It was developed as part of the liaison between LoRa Alliance and DLMS User Association to address electric utilities requirement for the use of IP-based standards. There are many additional applications for IPv6 over LoRaWAN, such as monitoring internet networking equipment, reading RFID labels, and IP-based smart home applications, among others.

LoRaWAN-Based Air-Quality Monitoring & Contact Tracing In Public Buildings Shows Promise for Controlling Viruses’ Spread

May 5, 2022, 06:00 p.m. CEST – Combining off-the-shelf IoT technologies and equipment with new mathematical models that simulated the propagation of Covid-19, a pilot solution at a leading Paris university hospital center has demonstrated how building managers in the future can limit the spread of viruses such as Covid-19.

The eight-month trial in 2021 included nearly 200 students and about 20 staff volunteers who wore Bluetooth-enabled badges during their classes, labs and shifts at the Faculty of Medicine (medical school) at Kremlin-Bicêtre AP-HP (Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris).

In addition to continuous monitoring of building air-quality, the system monitored occupants’ movements and whereabouts using dedicated mathematical models developed by two Paris-Saclay University scientists. These models simulated the propagation of Covid-19 in the student population, based on contact-tracing matrices.
